Your Health

It's important that NHS Oldham does all it can to support the people of Oldham to find out more about your health, help you to stay healthy and, where necessary, help you manage your own health conditions.

There is a huge amount of information on the internet to help you do this but the main resource from the NHS is the NHS Choices website at www.nhs.uk. It's a comprehensive information service designed to help put you in control of your own health. The service is intended to help you make choices about your health, from lifestyle decisions about things like smoking, drinking and exercise, through to the practical aspects of finding and using NHS services in England when you need them.

The NHS Choices website can also give you advice on a wide range of medical conditions and treatments.  You can:

  • Enter your symptoms online and get advice on treating common health problems at home
  • Get quick answers to hundreds of the most common health questions
  • Talk to NHS Direct 24-hours a day, on their freephone number 0845 46 47
  • Find a range of useful phone numbers.

NHS Oldham's Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) also has a comprehensive resource room, based in the town centre, where you can access information about health and local health services. Please get in touch with the team if you want to find out more.
